Volcano Dreaming design, research, text, photography and digital construction

.

Volcano Dreaming
is based on an exhibition called Pobblebonk about the fauna of the Maribyrnong River Valley that was designed and produced by Peter Haffenden and Kerrie Poliness in 2005 for Melbourne's Living Museum of the West and that was funded by the same EPA program.

Volcano Dreaming is a digitally constructed photographic panorama that merges more than 3000 photographs taken during more than 100 field trips over a three year period. The panorama has been constructed to visually describe each of the key habitat types that have evolved within the plains and to show a variety of key species of flora and fauna within those habitats to help describe the complex relationships of it's biodiversity.

Key species photographers

Many of the beautiful examples of species photography included in this exhibition have been taken by people who are dedicated and passionate about the protection and preservation of the unique biodiversity of the Victorian Volcanic Plains while conducting their own field work.

The people listed below have generously allowed us to use their images specifically for the purpose of this exhibition. Copyright of these images remains with each of the individual photographers. Their images have been digitally merged into the photographic panoramic environment which was created to describe and showcase the unique species that have evolved within the Victorian Volcanic Plains.

Many of these people took us on field trips and helped us to 'see' and get to know the Plains. They helped us with research and supported this project in ways that are too numerous to mention here. These people's initials appear beside each of their images in the exhibition.

Without their help, support and encouragement Volcano Dreaming would not have been possible to produce.
